Operational Updates

I wanted to pass along some operational updates to keep everyone in the loop; first of all, we are expecting a shipment, next Friday, February 5th, of some furniture that has been on back order for the DMC (set of Izzy desks for column), more table and chairs for the student study rooms and the latest order of wipe boards for distribution around the library.

Also, we've gotten our orders for the First Floor Reading Room Furniture Project and those are now in progress as well as plans to add or modify some electrical and data ports.  What's new is that we are now expecting to make the changes discussed in the Reading Room after the semester ends, in mid-May as opposed to spring break.

We will soon be posting another position in the DMC to serve as a desk/service manager, this is re-proposing Katherine's old position in Tech Services.  Decisions on other open positions will be announced as decisions are made.

Please let me know if there are any questions.

Mike

IT Hardware and Software Purchase Requests - Deadline January 26th

If you have any IT hardware or software purchase requests, please submit them to your department head by January 26th. You do not need to include requests to replace older laptops, PCs, or iPads; those will taken care of as part of our regular equipment replacement cycle. Once we have all the prioritized requests, ERIT will be meeting with all department heads to make purchasing decisions for staff, and with public service heads to decide what to purchase for public use. As you know, our budget is limited, so it highly unlikely that we can afford to purchase everything that we'd like to.
If you have any questions about what should or shouldn't be included in your department's IT request list, ask your department head, or Tim or Franklin.

Campus Canvas and Blackboard Updates

The migration of all organization and course content from Blackboard to Canvas will be complete within a week. You will no longer be able to log in to Blackboard after January 31. If you have content in Blackboard that you want to keep, you will need to move it before the end of the month. That includes Blackboard Collaborate content (recordings), because the campus is moving to WebEx. ITS will offer WebEx training (probably in February or March) and will integrate it into Canvas around May.
Questions? Ask ERIT.
