Current Literature

You may have noticed that Current Lit shrunk.  Due to budget cuts we canceled our subscription to McNaughton. Some with the green labels are still there since we decided to purchase them.  (It was a lease program w/ McNaughton. 

This affects only the hardbacks on the front side of the shelves.  The paperbacks are purchased with Friends money so that they can go to the book sale since they aren't purchased with State funds.

Holiday DVD checkout reminder!

"Monday, December 15 - Monday, January 5, the limit on the number of entertainment and instructional DVDs and videos that can be borrowed at one time by Libraries staff will be extended from 2 to 10. The loan period will be one week. We plan for the Self Checks to be able to allow check out of up to 10.  Anything borrowed December 17-23 will be due on January 2.  So make your lists and check them twice!

Clock Tower and Time Capsule

Maybe you noticed the clock tower that appeared at the EUC connector entrance a few weeks ago, this 7' tall replica was made by Bo Bodenhamer from the Provost Office and is on loan to us for a while.  A complete write up is posted next to the model for more information.

New Affordable Care Website at UNCG

There is a new page on the Human Resources website dedicated to information about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or ACA as it is often called. On this page you will find information about employment considerations, an eligibility calculator, information about the measurement periods, information about the high deductible health plan—MedCost, frequently asked questions as well as other ACA related tools and resources.

Juanita Thacker joins Access Services Department Staff




Juanita Thacker will start work on December 1 as the Weekend/Asst. Stacks Manager in ASD.  

 Juanita’s normal work hours will be Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday 3 pm-midnight and Friday and Saturday 1-10 pm.  Until classes being in January, she will be working @9 am – 6 pm Monday – Friday for training purposes.  

Juanita comes to us from the Semans Library at the UNC School of the Arts where she has worked as a circulation manager for the past 6 years.  Previously, she worked at the Wake Forest School of Law Library as an evening manager for 5 years.  She also has experience working in a public library and worked as a student assistant in Joyner Library at ECU.  She is pursuing an MLIS degree here.
Please join the ASD staff in welcoming Juanita to the University Libraries.
