Lower Level Shelving Cleared

Thanks everyone for all the hard work and efforts to get the lower level ready for shelf removal.  As you can see we have created some good space:
To give you a heads up of what's to come, we have some tables and chairs coming next week to provide seating in this open area while design work continues.  It is expected that the next level of work will begin after the start of the semester.  This will include carpeting this area.  More details will be provided after additional meetings with designers.

NCLA opportunity from VP Rodney

Hey All!

We have started meeting about the 2015 NCLA Conference and I have to tell you I am very excited!

We will be doing something new at this conference.  I have asked Brian Hart who is a 2014 Emerging Leader with ALA to head up a committee for Librarians Build Communities; his emerging leader team worked on this for their project.  Through this, we will select a volunteer opportunity in Greensboro, where the conference will be, and work with it at some point during the conference.  I know this sounds very fuzzy currently, but that is because we are in the beginning stages of this and also we need committee members who will help us to realize this project.  If you would be interested in serving on this committee with Brian, please let me know.

Sharing professional learning experiences

We'd like to encourage everyone to share what they've learned from conference, workshop, webinars and other continuing education opportunities.  To help with this we have the Professional Learning@UNCG University Libraries blog which is an easy way to do so and it will be a permanent record for all to refer to.  To post you may ask to get access from Lynda Kellam, Amy Harris Houk, Jenny Dale or Beth Filar Williams or send them text and they can post.   It doesn't have to be beautiful prose -- a brief summary or bullet points are fine with links to presentations is just fine!

And, it's a great idea to check this blog and keep up with what your colleagues are doing.

We also plan to schedule brown bag sharing sessions for this purpose so stay tuned.

Green Office Progress Report

This chart represents our progress by department regarding Green Office Certification, we still have a ways to go so keep pushing!
Some of you might have heard that OCLC is updating the “link resolver user interface.”

What changes should you expect to see?

Starting on August 11th
1) Journal A to Z links on the library website and in the red search box will start pointing into this page:
2) During the week of August 11, the pages like this that connect from “check for full text” in databases out to article full text will start looking different, too.

This LibGuide has already been updated with a link to the “new” A to Z list and screenshots showing how to use it.  After “check for full text” links are changed, screenshots with instructions will be posted for those, too.
